Summary

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) recently implemented a Lane Closure Notification System (LCNS) in support of its mission to provide a safe transportation system for all road users. The system allows roadway workers to communicate real-time lane closure information directly from the work zone to drivers through GPS apps and devices.

Participants will learn:

  • How the LCNS can support the Smarter Work Zones initiative.
  • How FDOT effectively rolled out their Lane Closure Notification System statewide and what’s in store for Year 2.
  • How data is collected and utilized and the importance of data quality.
