On June 6, 2014, Highway 78 was shut down at 8:30 p.m. in order for the Pigeon Roost Road Bridge in Mississippi to be demolished. Work progressed throughout the night and into the morning. At 7:30 a.m. on June 7, Highway 78 was reopened to traffic. The demolition of the bridge only took 11 hours.
