VDOT improves performance with delivering construction projects on time and on budget

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) delivered 82% of its construction contracts on time and 88% within budget through the first half of fiscal year 2006 (July 1, 2005 - Dec. 31, 2005). The performance shows improvement compared to last year's numbers.

"For a second year in a row, the men and women of VDOT have raised the bar on performance with project delivery," said acting VDOT Commissioner Gregory A. Whirley. "We will continue our relentless focus to operate the agency more efficiently and meet the bottom line: complete, on-time and on-budget, high-quality projects that help to reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and increase safety."

The quarterly report is posted online at www.VirginiaDOT.org. VDOT released its first quarterly report in January 2003. The report represents a straightforward accounting of the agency's performance by providing an objective and simple look at completed projects.
