Question: What is the highest paved road in the U.S.?
Answer: The Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway in Colorado
The Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway (formerly Mount Evans) is the highest paved road in the U.S. — and all of North America — at 14,130 feet of elevation. It’s located just 60 miles west of Denver, in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
It takes approximately two hours to drive the byway’s entire 49 miles. Travelers can visit Echo Lake Park, Mount Goliath Natural Area, Dos Chappell Nature Center and Summit Lake Park on the way to Mount Blue Sky’s summit.
