Last week's answer
Question:
Which U.S. highway was the first to be fully paved coast-to-coast?
Answer: Lincoln Highway
A group of automobile entrepreneurs banded together to construct the first coast-to-coast paved highway in the United States, to be able to take automobiles from San Francisco to New York City. The 3,389-mile roadway opened for vehicular use in 1913 once the first section of the highway was completed in New Jersey. However, it was not completed in its entirety until 1925. U.S. 30 serves as one of the longest stretches of the coast-to-coast highway, spanning from Pennsylvania to Wyoming.
