Repairs were done to fix the floor beam alignment issues

On Wednesday, the Sherman Minton Bridge in Louisville, Ky. reopened, according to transportation officals from Kentucky and Indiana.

According to a press release, repairs to fix the floor beam alignment issues were underway to allow both decks of the bridge to be reopened in both directions.

Officials said the repair work focused on moving the temporary construction, tensioning connections and having thorough inspections.

The bridge was closed on Friday after lateral beams were seen to be out of alignment while temporary bracing for pouring concrete was being removed.

Until Wednesday, officials recommended that drivers use alternate routes and designated detours. The suggested alternate route is I-265 and I-65.
