Repairs to Five West Michigan I-96 Bridges Causing Road Closures

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently announced a new bridge improvement project for five bridges along I-96 in West Michigan.

The $8.3 million project began work yesterday, May 30, and is causing total lane closures on weekdays for motorists.

The five bridges being improved over I-96 in Allegan County are two Blue Star Highway bridges at exists 36 and 41 as well as exits at 107^th, 109^th, and 114^th avenues.

Improvements to be made are deck replacement, rebuilding approaches, substructure improvements and slope restoration.

The Blue Star Highway will be detoured using 64^th Street and 140^th Avenue. Many of the off ramps from I-96 to Blue Star will remain open, however on ramps will close.

The project is set to finish August 31.
