The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently announced a new bridge improvement project for five bridges along I-96 in West Michigan.
The $8.3 million project began work yesterday, May 30, and is causing total lane closures on weekdays for motorists.
The five bridges being improved over I-96 in Allegan County are two Blue Star Highway bridges at exists 36 and 41 as well as exits at 107th, 109th, and 114th avenues.
Improvements to be made are deck replacement, rebuilding approaches, substructure improvements and slope restoration.
The Blue Star Highway will be detoured using 64th Street and 140th Avenue. Many of the off ramps from I-96 to Blue Star will remain open, however on ramps will close.
The project is set to finish August 31.
