AWARDS: ARTBA opens nominations for Roadway Work Zone Safety Awareness Awards

The American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF) is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Roadway Work Zone Safety Awareness Awards.

 

The annual awards recognize specific programs, education campaigns or innovations in technology that demonstrate excellence in promoting safety in roadway construction zones.

 

The awards program is divided into three categories:

The annual awards recognize specific programs, education campaigns or innovations in technology that demonstrate excellence in promoting safety in roadway construction zones.

The awards program is divided into three categories:

Outreach campaigns—Honors the efforts of national, state and local private-sector organizations, such as construction companies, utility companies or trade associations, which promote roadway work-zone safety through implementation of employee and/or public education campaigns and training programs.

Training––Recognizes special national, state and local training programs by public- or private-sector organizations targeted toward improving the safety of workers affected by roadway construction.

Innovations in technology—Honors manufacturers of equipment and products that use innovative technology to improve safety for motorists and workers in and around roadway work zones.

The competition is open to all interested individuals and organizations. An independent panel of judges will evaluate the entries. Applications must be received at the ARTBA Headquarters Building in Washington, D.C., by Aug. 10. Winners will be announced Aug. 17. Awards will be presented at a special awards banquet during the ARTBA National Convention, held Sept. 11-14 in Memphis, Tenn.
