TC3 has announced that more than 90% of its more than 120 courses are recommended for professional development hours (PDH). When a trainee takes a PDH-eligible course, the training hours can contribute toward continuing education for licensure renewal.
PDHs are necessary to maintain a high standard of integrity, skills and practice in the profession of engineering. Regular exposure to technical practice through participation in technical, professional and ethical training assures that professional engineers are exposed to new ideas and keep their skills current.
Licensed engineers participate in continuing professional education for licensure renewal to ensure competency. Continuing professional education for licensed engineers is measured in PDHs. A PDH is one contact hour of instruction and can be obtained a number of ways, including seminars, instructor-led training and online training. The licensee is responsible for maintaining records to be used to support credits claimed.
TC3 recommends PDHs for most of its online courses. To document course attendance and the associated PDHs, TC3 includes a certificate. With the broad range of opportunities to earn PDHs, it is up to the licensee to determine whether the activity qualifies under his or her state or board’s requirements. Even with the certificate, determination of qualifying activities must be made by the licensee or state. The transcript displays a record of the user’s TC3 training history as well as the PDHs awarded for each training module.
