Unveiling the first 18-V lithium-ion-powered trim saw on the market, Makita U.S.A. Inc., La Mirada, Calif., announced the release of its new 18-V LXT lithium-ion cordless 53/8-in. trim saw kit, model BSS501. The latest addition to the Makita LXT series, the trim saw is ideal for professional woodworkers and finishing carpenters as well as builders and other craftsmen making cuts overhead or in tight spaces.

Inc., La Mirada, Calif., announced the release of its new 18-V LXT lithium-ion cordless 53/8-in. trim saw kit, model BSS501. The latest addition to the Makita LXT series, the trim saw is ideal for professional woodworkers and finishing carpenters as well as builders and other craftsmen making cuts overhead or in tight spaces.

Weighing in at only 5.7 lb, Makita’s new trim saw is lightweight and compact, but also is powerful, with a Makita-built high-torque motor producing 3,600 rpm. Featuring a rubberized soft grip, the BSS501 also features a built-in LED light and front-mounted blower to keep sawdust off the line of cut. The stainless steel base adjusts for bevel cuts up to 50°.

Model BSS501 is a kit that includes a carbide-tipped 16T blade, two LXT lithium-ion (3.0-Ah) batteries, a 25-minute rapid optimum charger and a heavy-duty case. Model BSS501Z is the tool and blade only.
