The route will be widened from four to six lanes from I-10 to Tram Road
The Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) upcoming project will widen U.S. 69 through Beaumont from four lanes to six lanes.
A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Transportation says that the $50 million project will add intermittent merging lanes and remove the U.S. 69 northbound exit ramp to Delaware street.
TxDOT held a public hearing this week for drivers in the Beaumont area to learn more about the widening project that will stretch from I-10 to Tram Road.
The project will relocate the ramps at Chinn and Tram Road and overpass bridges will be widened. The three year long project is expected to begin in late 2018.
