The Georgia DOT (GDOT) has contracted with Brooks-Berry-Haynie & Associates of Mableton, Georgia to install CCTV camera systems at 13 locations along I-75 from just south of McDonough in Henry County to Forsyth in Monroe County.
The crews will start the project on Monday, Sept. 14, 2020 with the work expected to be complete by the end of summer 2021. The venture was developed as two 'Quick Response' projects with a total cost of $399,000.
The new cameras will give GDOT's Traffic Management Center (TMC) and District 3 Operations Center the ability to closely monitor the traffic flow on I-75 in west central Georgia. The contractor will install the poles, CCTV cameras, and solar-powered, wireless computer systems.
While most of the work will take place on the roadside, there may be times when a lane of traffic may be closed as a work zone around the crews and their equipment. When this happens, signage will be posted in advance of the closure and orange and white barrels will maneuver vehicles into the remaining open lanes. Drivers in those areas are urged to be alert to the possibility of the work zones and to safely move into the open lanes at their earliest opportunity.
