The personal-finance website WalletHub just released its report on 2019's Best & Worst States to Drive in.
According to WalletHub, U.S. traffic congestion costs the average driver over $1,400 per year. While the U.S. is ranked 10th in the world of 137 countries when it comes to road quality according to the World Economics Forum, it also is home to 10 out of the world’s 25 worst cities for traffic.
Naturally, road conditions are not consistent across the entire country. To identify the states with the most positive driving experiences, WalletHub compared all 50 states across 30 key indicators of a positive commute. The data set ranges from average gas prices to share of rush-hour traffic congestion to road quality.
The top 10 of the overall best states to drive in are ranked below.

3.) Indiana
4.) Iowa
5.) Texas
6.) North Carolina
7.) Georgia
8.) Arkansas
