Rail line extension marks opening of crucial transit artery for region

Sacramento Regional Transit celebrated the opening of the Blue Line light rail extension this week. The 4.3-mile extension added four new stations, two pedestrian bridges and more than 2,700 park-and-ride spaces to the system, according to Regional Transit.

Regional Transit officials have stated they expect more than 2,800 new riders to take advantage of the service.

The trains are scheduled to run every 15 minutes, a multifold improvement on previous service levels.
