Beginning this fall, an electric car corridor will join the cities of Burlington, Vt., and Montreal, Quebec, according to Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin and Quebec Premier Pauline Marois. The joint announcement was made on Monday at an event in Montreal.
Initially, the 138-mile corridor will feature more than 20 electric vehicle charging stations. That number is expected to increase over time. Shumlin added that drivers will be able to locate individual stations online.
Both parties mentioned the possibility of other cross-border electric vehicle charging routes in the future, such as one between Magog and Sherbrooke in Quebec’s Eastern townships and St. Johnsbury in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.
