The project design-build contract, awarded by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners, is valued at $72 million.

Knutson Construction is leading the project, which is envisioned as an urban park, transit station and neighborhood gathering space. Located next to Target Field in downtown Minneapolis, the transit station will have a projected capacity for 500 trains; 1,900 buses; and miles of bike and walking trails.

Work began in July, with a targeted completion date of 2014. The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners projects that more than 300 full-time jobs will be generated during the construction phase.
