PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: FTA announces $787 million in public transit grants

The Federal Transit Administration will be distributing $787 million in grants for 255 improvement projects nationwide, as announced by the agency on Monday. Grants are being awarded in 48 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico via the agency’s State of Good Repair and Bus Livability funding program.

 

The agency awarded grants to various entities across state, regional and municipal levels. Twenty-eight state departments of transportation were included on the awardees list.

FTA reportedly received 836 project applications this year, totaling approximately $4 billion. Over 2010 and 2011 combined, the agency awarded more than $1.8 billion in grants from this program.
