I-405 between S.R. 22 and I-605 (Los Angeles, Calif.)

Feb. 18, 2016

“The 405” is as synonymous with L.A. as the Lakers, In & Out Burger, and Hollywood. Different portions of it appear more than once on this list, but the 4.1 miles between S.R. 22 and I-605 is second-only to the gridlocked terror of the Windy City’s Kennedy merge. Though only one-third the length of the Kennedy merge, this piece of I-405 is the cause of more than 7 million hours lost annually to delay and gridlock to the tune of $191 million time-dollars. Compounding the waste of time and money is the expenditure of an extra 1.82 million gallons of gas.
