This 3.1-mile bite of the Big Apple yearly takes its own bite out of New Yorkers' ability to get from here to there. Three million hours are lost to delays each year and over 1.5 million gallons of gas given to getting nowhere on the slow. An estimated $82 million in lost time-dollars also adds to the toll taken.
