RAIL TRANSIT: Niagara Falls high-speed rail station set to open in May

The final phase of the Niagara Falls International Railway Station and Transportation Center is set to open in May
The Niagara Falls International Railway Station and Transportation Center has been in the works for nearly a decade, but completion is now in sight. The new station could be ready as soon as May once the final phase of the project is completed.
Scrufari Construction of Niagara Falls won the $22.7 million bid, with more than $16 million of funds coming from the federal government, in 2014 to complete the last phase of construction, but “unanticipated and necessary work that was beyond the scope of the bid,” including signage and interior modifications cost an additional $1.2 million.
However, the change orders remain within the project’s contingency budget already approved by the City Council and includes matching federal and state funds, Thomas J. DeSantis, Niagara Falls’ senior planner said.
The two largest tenants of the train station will be Amtrak and the Underground Railroad Heritage Area, which will open a museum at the site.
