New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and NJ Transit CEO Kevin Corbett were recently joined by Amtrak Board Chair Tony Coscia to announce construction work at four New Jersey train stations occurring this fall.
According to Amtrak, these projects are the result of reinvigorated relationship between NJ Transit and Amtrak. The goal of the projects is to improve travel experience for transit customers throughout the state. Improvements will be seen at New Brunswick, Trenton Transit Center, Princeton Junction, and Elizabeth Stations.
“A modern, safe, and reliable mass transit system is the foundation our state needs to grow our economy and reclaim our historic role as the state of innovation,” Gov. Murphy said in a statement. “The growing collaboration between Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT is a win-win for our commuters and our economic future.”
Work is set to take place throughout the fall of 2019 and early 2020. The stations will see improvements to elevator systems, platform extensions and improvements, and safety and accessibility upgrades.
Back in February 2019, Gov. Murphy, NJ Transit, and Amtrak announced their "Power in Partnership" campaign at an event at New York Penn Station in order to showcase a joint commitment to improving the customer experience of the traveling public.
