The project calls for the reconstruction of a two-lane highway into a four-lane divided highway with a depressed median. There was a potential waste of approximately 62,500 tons of existing pavement, 55,000 tons of concrete from the underlying pavement and 97,500 tons of low-quality Flexbase. All of this material will be recycled back into the proposed pavement structure or donated to local departments of transportation to improve rural roadways.
