The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is launching a series of pavement and infrastructure improvement projects across northern Arizona this spring and summer, with major work scheduled along Interstate 40 and U.S. 93.

Among the largest efforts is a $106 million project to build a new traffic interchange in west Kingman where Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 93 meet.

Additionally, 11 miles of pavement on I-40 between Holy Moses Wash and Rattlesnake Wash will be replaced over the next year, while a $22 million effort will replace 13 miles of pavement on U.S. Highway 93 south of Wikieup, wrapping up by late summer.

Near Flagstaff, ADOT will replace pavement on I-40 between Two Guns and Meteor City starting later this summer, with completion expected by 2026. East of Flagstaff near Winslow, sealant work on I-40 between mileposts 240 and 258 will begin this month and conclude by early summer.

Several smaller projects are also underway, including:

  • A 7-mile pavement overlay on State Route 89A in Prescott Valley.

  • ADA improvements and pavement work on State Route 87 in Payson, continuing into 2026.

  • Pavement repairs on US Highway 89 south of Page between Bitter Springs and Rossman Hill.

  • Pavement and drainage upgrades on U.S. Highway 160 near Tuba City, starting this fall.
