Motorists are encouraged to slow down and follow posted signage in work zones

From Sunday, May 5, through Saturday, May 11, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has over 95 road projects scheduled to close lanes, ramps, and full segments of major roadways.

Motorists should plan for traffic slowdowns on highways including U.S. 127 in Clinton and Ingham counties, M-139 in Berrien County, Interstate 475 in Genesee County, M-25 in Bay County, and U.S. 2 in Mackinac County.

Some projects include:

  • Grand River Ave. is getting resurfacing work done between Okemos Road and Marsh Road.
  • One lane of U.S. 127 will be closed between Maple Rapids Road and Hyde Road for culvert maintenance beginning Monday morning. The work should conclude on Friday.
  • Lane closures begin Monday on southbound U.S. 31 at Monroe Road and the U.S. 31 Business Route (Exit 154). Crews will begin on westbound M-25 (7th Street) before working on the eastbound side (McKinley Street). One lane will remain open on each side.
  • Northbound 127 between M-50 and Brooklyn Road is scheduled for intermittent total closures from Monday morning through May 15.

All projects are weather-dependent. State officials remind drivers to slow down and follow posted signage in work zones.
