The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced there will be a temporary closure of a section of Interstate 126 eastbound, just east of the I-26/I-126 Interchange that began on Tues., April 2.
SCDOT says the closure will allow workers to safely transport and set new bridge beams in their permanent location over the interstate.
Construction on the bridge is a part of SCDOT’s ongoing work of the Carolina Crossroads Project in Richland and Lexington counties.
Local law enforcement and transportation authorities will be on site during the closure for traffic management.
SCDOT says additional closures will likely be required overnight but vehicles in the area will be allowed through incrementally as the beams are safely secured over the travel lanes.
