Research Engineers International, Yorba Linda, Calif., has released a new bridge loading application for STAAD.Pro structural design and analysis software that will expedite and improve the reliability and accuracy involving critical aspects of bridge analysis and design.

The Bridge Engineering Automated Vehicle Applications, version 1.1, known as BEAVA, is a new extension to STAAD.Pro. The application allows bridge engineers to minimize the time needed for numerous, complex computations and eliminate possible error arising from inaccuracies associated with the trial-and-error process to calculating live loads for bridge and bridge deck design.

Bosch site upgraded

The redesigned Bosch Power Tools website (www.BoschTools.com) has been redesigned and relaunched by the Chicago-based company. Bosch’s new site is designed to create a community of information for professional tradesmen.

The site offers resources for professionals in 28 skilled trades, and site sections include links to product usage tips, tool reviews and construction industry-related discussions. Soon, the company plans to include several industry-specific search engines to further this objective and allow visitors to search a database of nearly all the power tool-specific information available on the Internet.

Automate business

HeavyBid/Express Plus, an upgrade of HeavyBid/Express manufactured by Houston-based HCSS, gives users access to advanced features that allow them to export and import Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, export to the company’s HeavyJob tracking software and export to Peachtree accounting software. Used in conjunction with Heavy-Job and Peachtree, the Express Plus software can help a small contractor completely automate their business.

Any contractor using spreadsheets can easily import estimates into Express Plus, submit professional bid forms and track all of their bids within bid history. Project engineers can work up change orders and electronically transmit them back to the main office.

According to the manufacturer, this software is about giving small contractors the opportunity to entirely automate their business.
