Public transportation in Portland will soon have a bridge
to call its own. When complete, the Tilikum Crossing
will be the longest car-free transit bridge in the U.S. and
the fi rst multimodal project of its kind. Light-rail trains,
buses and streetcars will travel down the middle of the
bridge, which will have bike and pedestrian paths on
each side. The bridge also will provide access to a new
housing tract and a univeristy campus branch along the
Portland riverfront.
