Trinseo’s Modifier A™/NA Latex and Latex Modified Concrete technology were developed over 50 years ago for rehabilitation of old and worn out bridge deck surfaces. This technology has stood the test of time; both as a technology that continues to be selected for bridge deck overlays, and in actual performance, with many LMC overlays lasting 30 to 40 years with minimal maintenance required.

Modifier A™/NA latex meets all polymer and performance requirements outlined in Report Number FHWA RD-78-35, “Styrene-Butadiene Latex Modifiers for Bridge Deck Overlay Concrete.” In addition, recent testing of LMC shows robust performance even under lower temperature conditions. The excellent performance of LMC overlays is highly dependent on proper bridge deck preparation and installation practices. Reliable contractors with LMC experience have proven that LMC overlays, when installed properly, are unmatched for durability and long-term performance.

Latex Modified Concrete offers several performance benefits over Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) and other technologies. LMC enables outstanding flexural strength, bond strength and chloride ion permeability resistance, making it an excellent choice for almost all regions of North America and other parts of the world.
