The Island in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., is a popular tourist hub located just five miles north of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Federal and State regulations required that the bridge entrance over the Little Pigeon River to The Island had to be a clear span and not disrupt the waterway. The finished structure was a 160 ft span U.S. Bridge Cambridge style truss with a width of 39 ft and a weathering finish. The two-lane bridge also included an 8 ft interior sidewalk along with a 5 ft exterior sidewalk and had a live load rating of HS20.
