Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) today opened the 7th Annual Florida Automated Vehicles (FAV) Summit in downtown Miami by emphasizing that the state will continue to embrace and encourage innovation and technology.
The FAV Summit brings together industry leaders from around the world to discuss the future of driving in the state of Florida and emerging automated, connected, electric, and shared vehicle technologies that have the potential to improve mobility. The conference showcases Florida’s commitment to technology-friendly policies, the collaboration between agencies, and the investment opportunities that lie in the deployment of automated policy solutions.
While speaking to the Summit’s 735 attendees amassed from around the globe, Gov. DeSantis assured the industry leaders that Florida will continue to embrace emerging transportation technologies.
“As Governor, I am committed to making Florida the number one state in the country for transportation technology,” the governor said in a statement. “We will continue to embrace advancements in autonomous and connected vehicles so that Florida can lead the nation in innovative transportation solutions.”
FAV Summit Demonstrators Beep, Voyage, Lyft, Uber, JUMP, Lime, Starsky Robotics, Ford/Argo AI, Luminar, SPIN, and Connected Wise are already conducting business in Florida.
The Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida, Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, the Central Florida Expressway Authority, and the Jacksonville Transportation Authority have all worked throughout the year to bring this summit to Miami.
