As of yesterday, self-driving Uber vehicles took to the streets of Tempe, Ariz. to pick up and drop off riders throughout the city.
The ride-sharing service has been testing automated vehicles in Pittsburgh for the last five months, and are now bringing their self-driving tests to the Southwest.
Users of the ride-sharing app living in the area can have a chance to ride in a self-driving Uber by requesting an uberX. Experienced vehicle operators will be in the front seat of each self-driving vehicle during the ride to ensure safety. A maximum of three riders are allowed in the vehicle at a time.
