Matt will be responsible for HCEA National Account maintenance and development. Matt joins Hyundai Construction Equipment with over 20 years’ experience in the construction equipment sales industry with a degree in Business Administration from Piedmont College.

Sam Tso to lead HDR’s West Region Transportation Program in the U.S.

December 14, 2020HDR has promoted Sam Tso, P.E., to serve as West Region transportation director. As director, Tso will be responsible for a region that spans the western United States from Montana, Utah, and New Mexico to the Pacific coast, as well as Alaska and Hawaii. 

Backed by more than 40 years of experience, Tso will provide strategic leadership for the continued diversification of HDR's aviation, highways and bridges, transit, freight rail, and maritime practice areas and the expansion of the firm’s multidisciplinary technical capabilities throughout the region. His responsibilities will include project delivery oversight, recruiting and staff development opportunities, and business development support. Tso will partner with HDR's local area teams to apply national expertise and deliver innovative and reliable solutions that best serve communities’ changing mobility needs. 


Maine Turnpike Authority selects Econolite's ATC Cabinet

December 8, 2020—Econolite announced that the Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA) has selected and begun deploying Econolite’s Advanced Traffic Controller Cabinet (ATCC). The MTA is installing the Econolite ATCCs as a safer, smarter, and greener option for replacing older cabinets at interchanges along the turnpike.

With Maine DOT’s (MaineDOT) 2019 decision to adopt the ATC cabinet as the state standard, the MTA took a leadership role as the first agency in the state to deploy the ATC cabinet. “The expansion of capabilities and options the Econolite ATCC provides makes it ideal in support of our infrastructure modernization program,” Eric Barnes, P.E., MTA Toll System/ITS Manager, said in a statement.

The MTA is leveraging the 48-volt option Econolite ATCC that enables the use of alternate power sources and longer-lasting battery backup systems (BBS), which is a critical safety feature for inclement weather conditions that can interrupt utility power. Also, because it requires less power to operate, the 48-volt Econolite ATCC is a greener more sustainable option.
