U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is scheduled to visit Pittsburgh today to announce a $142 million federal funds for the city's infrastructure.

The investment seeks to improve infrastructure on the Interstate 376 corridor, according to a news release.

The federal dollars will go to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission to fund rehabilitation of 10 bridges along the I-376 corridor of Pittsburgh.

It will also help cover costs of a new flood wall in Downtown Pittsburgh to fix flooding problems. The project aims to improve traffic management and reduce costly recurring maintenance, according to officials.

The funding comes from the INFRA and Mega grant programs, funded through the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

buttigieg is also expected to participate in a town hall focused on the next generation of transportation infrastreucture with Carnegie Mellon University students.
