Answer: It eliminates all "left-hand turns" across oncoming traffic lanes

In a Diverging Diamond Interchange, the crossovers smoothly transition traffic from the right side of the road to the left side and back again. Traffic on the left hand side is between crossovers, eliminating left hand turns across opposing traffic.
