Instead of having too many cars stranded on the side of the road after Hurricane Florence, there were too many fish stranded on the side of the road.
The Penderlea Fire Department in North Carolina spent most of the weekend clearing dead fish off I-40.
“Well, we can add ‘washing fish off the interstate’ to the long list of interesting things firefighters get to experience!” said a post on the Penderlea Fire Department’s Facebook page on Saturday.
Firefighters used a hose to spray the casualties off of the road, and according to motorists the fish created a “horrible, decaying smell” on the interstate.
Flooding due to Florence turned catastrophic in North and South Carolina and many highways were closed. To see a video of the cleanup, click here.
