Flood damage continues to disrupt the current of traffic on U.S. roadways.
On Monday, the victim was Nevada’s I-15, which took on so much water that a stretch of 50 miles remained closed on Sept. 11. Nevada DOT officials estimate the cost to repair the route will be in upwards of $5 million. Motorists were using one of three detours to get around the mess. Traffic has been extremely heavy on the alternate routes.
Nevada DOT crews have been working 24/7 to re-open I-15.
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval declared a state of emergency on Sept. 9 for Clark County and the Moapa Band of Paiutes Reservation. The Moapa Valley was the hardest hit from the flooding and much of it remains covered in mud and debris.
