Priscilla Sawyer Cornelio, vice president at the consulting engineering firm Parsons Brinckerhoff in Tucson, Ariz., has been appointed to the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration as the civil engineer member.

The nine-member board is responsible for the licensing and discipline of engineers, architects, geologists, landscape architects and land surveyors. Cornelio will be responsible for reviewing and approving applications of civil engineers wishing to be registered as professional engineers in Arizona.

Cornelio has been a vice president with PB since 1990. She served as manager of PB's southern Arizona operations for 10 years and is currently deputy director of the firm's Office of Professional Practice. Prior to joining PB, Priscilla was deputy director of transportation for the city of Tucson.

Cornelio has served on the Board of Directors and chair of Arizona Consulting Engineers Association's Tucson-Pima County ADOT Liaison Committee, co-chair of the Arizona Society of Civil Engineer's Minority Scholarship Committee and co-chair of a statewide meeting and participated in the University of Arizona's Women in Science and Engineering program, which seeks to raise awareness among junior high school girls of career opportunities in engineering.
