The Quixote Corp. has announced the acquisition of U.S. Traffic Corp., a privately held designer, manufacturer and supplier of intelligent intersection control systems and other transportation safety equipment. U.S. Traffic Corp., which operates two manufacturing facilities in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and Tecate, Mexico, produces inductive loop detectors, conflict monitors, controllers, traffic control cabinets, traffic and pedestrian signals, portable and fixed variable message signs, radar speed displays and internally illuminated street signage.

Quixote Corp. is a publicly owned company and a recognized leader in energy-absorbing crash cushions, electronic wireless measuring and sensing devices, computerized highway advisory radio transmitting systems and other highway safety products. This acquisition represents its largest to date.

"U.S. Traffic's broad array of products provides us with exciting opportunities to advance our strategy of becoming a one-stop shop for transportation safety solutions," said Leslie Jezuit, chairman and chief executive officer of Quixote. "We believe that U.S. Traffic's fine products and facilities along with its quality management team and dedicated employees provide tremendous opportunities to achieve our growth objectives."

"With this new relationship, both companies will benefit from cross markets and complimentary product lines. This will equate to added value and services for our customer base, both existing and in the future," said Gary Coury, president of U.S. Traffic Corp.
