The next World of Asphalt Show and Conference will feature the co-location of the inaugural World of Aggregates Forum & Expo, with the event to be held Mar. 9-12, 2009, in Orlando, Fla.
"Since its inception in 2001, World of Asphalt has grown tremendously in every way: educational offerings, attendance and exhibitors," said Rick Moore, chairman of World of Asphalt. "By co-locating the 2009 show with the first World of Aggregates, we will be creating the best of both worlds." Moore, a past chairman of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), is president of Lehman-Roberts Co. in Memphis, Tenn.
The most recent edition of World of Asphalt, held this past Mar. 19-22 in Atlanta, set records for educational session attendance (4,000 tickets sold) and number of exhibitors (222). Show attendance rose to more than 3,600. The exhibits filled more than 67,000 sq ft at the Georgia International Convention Center. Some 14% of the delegates were internationals.
The 2007 show's expanded education program included safety courses and "hot topics" seminars as well as its traditional offerings: NAPA's People, Plants and Paving Training Program and the APA's Asphalt Pavement Conference.
World of Asphalt is held annually except in CONEXPO-CON/AGG years. The 2010 event is scheduled in Cincinnati.
