The Indiana Department of Transportation and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have selected a Parsons team to provide general engineering consultant services for the $1.9 billion Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project. The Community Transportation Solutions (CTS) team includes Parsons, Beam Longest and Neff and HMB Professional Engineers.
The Parsons team will manage the design and construction of two new bridges over the Ohio River and the relocation of the downtown I-64/I-71/I-65 "Spaghetti Junction" interchange complex over the next 10-15 years.
Parsons also was the managing partner of the CTS team that recently completed the initial phase of the project including the draft and final environmental impact statements.
"CTS is the consultant who prepared the Ohio River Bridges EIS documents and has intimate knowledge of the project, which will ensure project continuity," INDOT Commissioner J. Bryan Nichol said. "Although the parent firm is the same, a new team lead by a new project manager will bring a fresh approach to managing the GEC."
"Kentucky views public involvement and communication as one of the keys to the successful development of the Ohio River Bridges," said KYTC Secretary James C. Codell, III. "CTS has a solid demonstrated record with its work on the EIS. This new project management team promises to build on the successes of that process, which will enable us to move this major project forward smoothly."
