MnDOT hands out first contracts funded by stimulus package
The Minnesota Department of Transportation handed out the first contracts for road projects funded by the federal stimulus package on March 13.
Fifty-three city and county projects announced on March 12 in greater Minnesota will get a total of $75 million from the package. Projects include resurfacing of I-90 and County Road 46 in Freeborn County, new alignment of a road in Waite Park and the replacement of a three-span bridge in Aitkin County.
These projects are in addition to the $180 million in highway projects announced by Gov. Tim Pawlenty last month, MnDOT said.
So far, MnDOT hasn't announced specific state highway and local road and bridge projects that will be funded by stimulus money in the Twin Cities metro area.
