The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) and its allied trade associations will sponsor a “Rally for Roads” on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on May 25 at 11 a.m. to bring attention to the critical need for Congress to develop and pass a well-funded, multiyear highway reauthorization bill.
The Rally will be held in conjunction with the Transportation Construction Coalition Fly-In on May 24 and 25 bringing together industry allies to meet with members of the 112th Congress in pressing the importance of transportation infrastructure investment.
Few federal actions rival major transportation infrastructure investments for creating jobs, stimulating economic growth and making the U.S. more competitive over the long-term. Investments in highway- and public-transportation improvements are proven to generate short-term economic activity and employment in the construction sector.
The Rally will feature employees from all facets of the road-construction industry including materials providers, road pavers and equipment manufacturers and dealers.
Besides NSSGA, the sponsors of the “Rally for Roads” include the American Concrete Pavement Association, the American Roads & Transportation Builders Association, the Associated Equipment Distributors, the National Asphalt Pavement Association, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and the Portland Cement Association.
Other participants will include partner companies of the Transportation Construction Coalition and the Americans for Transportation Mobility.
