The American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials President James Codell III presented the 2001 and 2002 Perpetual Pavement Awards during a special ceremony on Tuesday as part of the APA Asphalt Pavement Conference: Superpave 2003. The Perpetual Pavement Award is presented by the Asphalt Pavement Alliance to asphalt pavements that were constructed at least 35 years ago and that have demonstrated long-life characteristics, excellence in design, quality in construction and value to the traveling public. Engineers at the National Center for Asphalt Technology evaluate nominations for the award, and a panel of industry experts validates the winners.
