MnDOT expects early completion of U.S. Highway 2

Aug. 16, 2010

U.S. Highway 2, east of Crookston, Minn., will be completed by mid-September if weather permits, Shawn Groven, an engineer with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) told the Grand Forks Herald.

Work began on June 7 to remedy a landslide in September 2008 that sank the highway 10 ft at its deepest point.

After an uncooperative June, the weather improved in July and August. The 2-mile reconstruction work is expected to finish a month before its Oct. 16 closing date with all four lanes operating.
