Arizona's Weekend is Full of Freeway Construction

Be prepared for traffic and detours

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is gearing up for some road construction projects that will be starting late Friday, through the weekend, and into Monday in order to improve the freeway.

According to the ADOT website, five roadway projects are scheduled for this weekend, so be sure to prepare for detours and traffic:

  • Southbound I-17 will be closed between Pinnacle Peak Road and Union Hills Drive from 9 P.M. Friday to 5 A.M. Monday in order to improve the pavement. Both Loop 101 ramps to southbound I-17 closed. Southbound I-17 ramps to Loop 101 closed.
  • Westbound US 60 will be closed between Loop 202 and Superstition Springs Boulevard in Mesa from 9 P.M. Friday to 5 A.M. Monday for another pavement improvement. Both Loop 202 ramps to westbound US 60 will be closed, along with Westbound US 60 on-ramps at Ellsworth, Sossaman and Power.
  • Westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane between Verrado Way and Miller Road in Buckeye from 9 P.M. Friday to 5 A.M. Monday in order to widen the freeway.
  • Westbound I-10 ramp to eastbound US 60 will be closed from 10 P.M. Friday to 4 A.M. Monday for the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.
  • Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane overnight between Riggs Road and the Gila River Bridge from 9 P.M. to 5 A.M. Monday, working through to Thursday night. ADOT is cautioning drivers to allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
