Utah Launches $2.8B Construction Season With 176 Projects Statewide

The statewide investment targets congestion relief, aging infrastructure and safety improvements in communities from Cache County to Washington County

Key Highlights

  • UDOT is investing $2.8 billion across 176 projects statewide, with more than 50 already underway as crews ramp up for peak construction season.
  • The largest effort is a $621 million freeway connection in Utah County linking Mountain View Corridor to I-15, while major interchange projects in Davis and Weber counties aim to ease congestion and support growth.
  • Work also includes widening I-15 in St. George, rebuilding sections of I-80 and I-215, expanding U.S. 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon and adding new pedestrian and trail connections in several counties, all focused on improving safety and reliability.

As winter loosens its grip, orange barrels and heavy equipment are returning to highways across Utah.

The Utah Department of Transportation plans to invest $2.8 billion in 2026, funding 176 projects statewide. More than 50 are already underway. The goal is to preserve aging roads and bridges, expand capacity in fast growing areas and improve safety across the system.

Drivers should expect lane shifts, reduced speeds and periodic closures as work accelerates this spring and summer.

“Every project we start is about taking care of the system Utahns rely on every day,” UDOT Deputy Director Lisa Wilson said in the news release. “At the end of the day, our goal is simple: help people get where they’re going safely.”

Below is a breakdown of major funded projects scheduled for 2026:
