The grants will go to improving infrastructure

Yesterday, it was announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is awarding over $12 million to 17 towns and cities in the state. The funding will go to projects that aim to improve transportation accessibility and safety.

The grants are being awarded through the Community Connectivity Grant Program. The program provides financial support for local infrastructure.

“Our main streets and community centers serve as vital social, economic, and transportation hubs,” Gov. Ned Lamont said. “Improving local infrastructure for all users in community centers is a win for our whole state and opens the door to further economic growth.”

Funds from the program can only be used for projects within the $100,000 to $800,000 range.

The program is in the sixth round of funding. It has awarded 138 projects, with over $62 million having been invested in Connecticut infrastructure.
