Sensors mounted on the excavator are calibrated to the machine and take into account the movement and angle of the bucket, boom and dipper stick to provide continuous depth-control indication on the in-cab display. There is no need for the operator to stop digging in order to place the bucket and dipper stick in the same position every time they want to take an accurate reading, thus saving money by preventing over and under cutting.
The control system can be installed and calibrated in less than 45 minutes. No welding is required because the sensors mount to the excavator with strong rare-earth magnets. It can be calibrated to several machines and retains the data as it is moved between equipment.
