The 416E, 420E and 430E are offered in integrated toolcarrier configurations for applications that benefit from parallel-lift loader linkage and the versatility of quick work tool changes.
The 420E has 89 net horsepower and a backhoe digging depth of 14 ft 4 in. when equipped with a standard stick. The 430E has 97 net horsepower and a backhoe digging depth of 15 ft 5 in. when equipped with a standard stick. An extendible stick pushes the 420E digging depth to 17 ft 11 in. and the 430E digging depth to 19 ft 6 in. The 74-net-horsepower 416E offers the same digging depths as the 420E.
All three models offer factory-installed thumbs on the bucket, which Caterpillar claims is a first in the industry. The new thumbs are available in both hydraulic and stiff-link versions and are compatible with all bucket and coupler combinations. The thumbs expand backhoe versatility by enabling the operator to handle irregularly shaped objects more easily.
The backhoe loaders also are equipped with AccuGrade BHL site reference system, which is a grade and depth check system that provides accuracy, greater productivity and lower operating costs. The line also is available with Product Link, a management tool that allows customers to coll ect and track multiple types of information about their machines via wireless communication.
