The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has reduced Interstate 10 to one travel lane in each direction to support major bridge repairs in Pima County.

The work zone is 10 miles west of Benson, where I-10 crosses the Empirita Road interchange and the Union Pacific Railroad between mileposts 292 and 293, according to an ADOT press release.

Drivers should expect delays during peak travel hours, with speeds reduced to 55 mph. Lane restrictions are expected to remain in place until spring.

Four Bridges Undergoing Structural and Safety Upgrades

The $6.2 million project includes repairs to four bridges: two I-10 structures spanning Empirita Road and two additional bridges crossing the Union Pacific Railroad. According to the Tucson Sentinel, work will include deck improvements, new guardrails and raised pavement markers.
